Ben Franklin’s love of both nature and science springs to life in this imagined version of Ben Franklin’s secret garden and workshop. It represents a unique perspective on Philadelphia’s most famous inventor, printer, scientist and diplomat.
The building is designed as a practical conversion of a stable to a workshop, where Franklin might have labored on his inventions inspired by the view of his garden. Visitors may walk through the exhibit, which includes Franklin artifacts and numerous reproductions of Franklin items.
The exhibit also features a garden containing weeping mulberry trees, and medicinal herbs. The mulberry tree has great historical significance as part of Franklin's Garden, under which he entertained and lobbied members of the Constitutional Convention.
